There are now two jQuery plugins available, Sliding Doors and Hover Icon. If you want more, leave a suggestion in the comments. I’ll see what I can do. I’m open to challenges.

The Plugins

SlidingDoors – Show an image’s alt text, neatly sliding the image itself aside. Works great for longer captions, or just being a little flashy.

HoverIcon – display an image next to your mouse pointer when you move it over the target. Works great to identify external links, special content (images, pdfs, scripts), or highlight content by drawing the users attention.
